Mumbai, 5 April
Stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra skipped his summon
before Mumbai Police on 5 April in connection with his alleged 'traitor'
remarks against Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.
This is the third time Kamra skipped a police
summon. The Khar police have registered a case against Kamra on a complaint by
Shiv Sena MLA Murji Patel alleging that he made derogatory remarks against the
deputy chief minister during a show.
Kamra had made a video mocking Shinde over the
split in the Shiv Sena, following which party workers vandalised the studio and
hotel on the night of 23 March.
The Madras High Court has granted interim
anticipatory bail to Kamra till 7 April. He is a permanent resident of Tamil
Nadu. The three FIRs registered against the comedian in Nashik Rural, Jalgaon
and Nashik (Nandgaon) have been transferred to the Khar police station.
