New Delhi, 29 June

Netflix users accessing the platform as add-on members on someone else's account may encounter login issues due to a new rule. The streaming giant now requires each profile under a Netflix subscription to have a unique email address.

The change, which began rolling out on 16 June 2026, is permanent, according to a Netflix spokesperson. Several users have reported seeing a pop-up asking them to add an email address to their profile to continue. The requirement does not apply to child profiles.

The update could make it easier for secondary account users to manage their own credentials, log into new devices, or use two-factor authentication.

However, the change has drawn criticismUsers who share a single device — such as a living room TV — and use multiple profiles on the same account say the new requirement is inconvenient.
