Dhanush’s next Tamil film ‘Kara’, to be directed by Vignesh Raja

Tamil cinema star Dhanush has titled his upcoming Tamil film 'Kara', with the announcement made on Thursday to mark the harvest festivals of Pongal and Makar Sankranti.
The film will be directed by Vignesh Raja, who earned critical acclaim for the 2023 crime thriller 'Por Thozhil'. It is being produced by Ishari K Ganesh under the Vels Film International banner.
The makers unveiled the title and first-look poster on Instagram, confirming that the project, tentatively referred to as 'D54', will feature music composed by G V Prakash Kumar, a two-time National Film Award winner.
Details regarding the plot and supporting cast are yet to be disclosed. Kara is slated for a theatrical release in summer 2026.
Dhanush had a busy 2025 with multiple releases, including Tamil films 'Kuberaa and Idli Kadai', along with the Hindi romantic drama 'Tere Ishk Mein', which marked his reunion with director Aanand L Rai.
Apart from Kara, the actor is also set to portray former president and aerospace scientist A P J Abdul Kalam in the biographical drama Kalam: The Missile Man of India. The project, announced at the 2025 Cannes Film Market, will be directed by Om Raut, known for films such as Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior and Adipurush
