Thirty-one Bangladeshi nationals who were earlier held from different parts of the city were deported on Monday following a city wide crackdown on undocumented immigrants, police said.

They were secured by 10 different police station limits in the city, they said.

"Today, 31 Bangladeshi nationals who were secured by 10 different Police Stations were sent from SMVT Bengaluru Terminal to Malda Railway Station, West Bengal, for deportation," M Narayana, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Electronic City) said.

They were escorted by 20 police personnel, he said.

They are expected to reach Malda at around 5 pm on Tuesday, where further procedures will be carried out, police said

Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh has urged citizens to share information about illegal immigrants but cautioned them against taking the law into their own hands.

He emphasised that public cooperation is vital but must remain within legal boundaries.

He also stated that the ongoing 'Operation Mukta' will continue in Bengaluru to identify and act against suspected illegal immigrants residing in various parts of the city.
