Mohammed Anees, a revered wildlife rescuer and conservationist in Karnataka, passed away in a city hospital on Tuesday at age 55.
Affectionately known as "Snake Anees," he began rescuing snakes at the age of 17 and went on to dedicate his life to protecting nature and rescuing snakes. With decades of experience, he rescued thousands of venomous and non-venomous snakes.
His TV appearances on Discovery, Animal Planet, and National Geographic, combined with his mentorship, inspired generations.
He believed that every creature deserved protection, and that a true rescuer never needs to harm a snake.
Anees is survived by his wife, Tayiba, and their children, Shoaib and Simrah.
His funeral will be held on Thursday afternoon at Khadria Masjid, Miller Road.
