Kolar, 21 Dec

The teachings of Vishishtadvaita propounded by Sri Ramanujacharya continue to be relevant even in the present day as they foster oneness and harmony among humankind, said Sri Yadugiri Yathiraj Narayana Ramanuja Jeeyar, pontiff of Melukote Peeta. Delivering his blessing address to devotees at the Sri Venugopala Swamy Temple in Holur village of Kolar taluk on Sunday, the Jeeyar said Ramanujacharya stood for the welfare of the entire mankind, transcending barriers of caste, creed and social divisions.

He noted that Ramanujacharya firmly believed every human being has the right to offer prayers to the Almighty and stressed inclusivity in spiritual practice. The philosophy of Vishishtadvaita, he said, has received global recognition and appreciation for its message of unity and devotion. The Jeeyar added that, through the blessings and inspiration of Ramanujacharya, more than 18,000 temples across the country have been renovated and are actively contributing to the unification of society.

Calling upon devotees to set aside time daily for prayers and bhajans, he said spiritual discipline brings peace of mind, helps overcome evil habits and ultimately leads to peace in the world. Murali, priest of the Venugopala Swamy Temple, and Krishna Prasad, priest of the Sri Lakshminarayanaswamy Temple, were present.
