A businessman, Aravind Venkatesh Reddy, has been arrested for allegedly stalking, harassing, and intimidating a Kannada film actress in the City. The 36-year-old actress reported that she had known Reddy since 2021, having met him at an event in Sri Lanka in 2022. Initially, they had a cordial relationship and even lived together, but his behaviour soon became obsessive and threatening.
According to her complaint, Reddy would arrive at her home intoxicated, prompting her to distance herself from him. Despite her efforts to end the relationship, he allegedly followed her, tracked her location, and morphed her photographs on Instagram to insult her. He reportedly sent men to her parental home to instigate trouble and threatened to kill her younger brother if she did not resume their relationship.
The actress attempted suicide in April 2024, distressed by Reddy's alleged threats of forced marriage and ongoing harassment. Following the filing of a police report on 17 October, Reddy was arrested today, and the phone allegedly used during the harassment has been seized as the investigation continues.
