BENGALURU, 28 JULY

State Home Minister G Paramehwara has instructed police across the state to intensify efforts against drug-related crimes after Maharashtra police busted a facility in Mysuru. The operation uncovered an MDMA manufacturing facility, linked to a peddler caught in Mumbai, they said.

Acknowledging police lapses, Paramehwara stated, “It is a lapse on the part of the local police. I have given strict instructions to take action against those involved.” He explained that the Mumbai police traced the MDMA back to Mysuru, where the drug was reportedly produced in a shed.

The Minister expressed concern over porous enforcement, stating, “The question is how porous we are in terms of looking at all these things. I have directed our commissionerate in Mysuru and other districts to ensure such activities are curbed. Every SP has been sensitised, and strict instructions have been issued to prevent such incidents.”

He also highlighted the importance of police vigilance, saying, “If local police are unaware of such activities, and other agencies or states raid and arrest, it indicates lapses. I have asked for action against the responsible officials and for the police to be more alert.”

Following the raid, Narasimharaja Police Station Inspector Lakshmikant Talwar was suspended pending a departmental inquiry.
