 Bengaluru, 7 July

The Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platforms (C-CAMP), with support from the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, has launched the One Health AMR Challenge 2025 to identify and scale innovations aimed at tackling Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) across humans, animals, and the environment.

The challenge was launched by Prof Ajay Sood, Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India, at the India AMR Innovation Workshop held at the C-CAMP campus in Bengaluru.

Prof Sood noted that the initiative aligns with India’s formal adoption of the One Health approach, which integrates human, animal, and environmental health in combating AMR. “The challenge provides a unique scale-up model beyond funding, tailored to the Indian context,” he said.

C-CAMP Director-CEO Dr Taslimarif Saiyed emphasised the urgency of AMR, describing it as a major societal threat with India at its epicentre. “We aim to nurture and scale advanced-stage technologies close to commercialisation,” he added.

Up to 12 market-ready innovations will be selected for an 11-month support programme. Funding will range from USD 50,000 to 250,000 (approximately ₹40 lakh to ₹2 crore), depending on the technology’s readiness. Winners will also receive technical, regulatory, legal, IP, manufacturing, and market support.

Applications are open to Indian and international innovators and close on 3 August. The initiative is also supported by the International Centre for Antimicrobial Resistance Solutions (ICARS).
