BENGALURU, 4 JULY

BJP MP Lahar Singh Siroya has accused the State Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of disseminating misinformation regarding Covid-19 vaccines in light of recent heart attack fatalities in Hassan district. The Chief Minister implied a possible link between the vaccination drive and the surge in deaths, alleging that the vaccines had been "hastily" approved.

Siroya criticized Siddaramaiah’s remarks, stating that the Karnataka government has been advocating for stringent legislation, including potential seven-year prison sentences and fines, aimed at combating the spread of fake news. He suggested that the Chief Minister’s comments might trigger the first complaint against him for spreading misinformation concerning Covid vaccines, noting that the Union government has already issued clarifications on the matter.

The BJP MP contended that the Congress party's actions aim to undermine the scientific community, which played a critical role in saving millions during the pandemic. "I hope someone in Congress will caution him," Siroya remarked, speculating that there may be no one left within the party to provide such guidance, given concerns over the longevity of Siddaramaiah’s government. He concluded, "There is no vaccine against dissident activities."
