Bengaluru, 20 April

Former Director General of Police (DGP) of Karnataka, Om Prakash, was found dead at his residence in Bengaluru’s HSR Layout on Sunday. The 68-year-old retired IPS officer was discovered lying in a pool of blood on the ground floor of his three-storied home, raising strong suspicions of foul play.

Police have detained his wife, Pallavi, who is the prime suspect in the case. Police Commissioner B Dayananda confirmed her detention and stated that an investigation is underway. The couple’s daughter is also being questioned.

Senior police officials rushed to the spot after receiving information about the incident. Preliminary reports suggest Om Prakash had expressed concerns about threats to his life to close associates in the past.

The body has been sent for autopsy. Originally from Champaran, Bihar, Om Prakash was a 1981-batch IPS officer and held a Master’s degree in Geology. He served as Karnataka's DGP from 1 March, 2015.
