BENGALURU, 9 SEPT

Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) began a trial run on the Yellow Line's Lane 2 on Monday, covering a stretch of 18.2km from Bommanahalli to RV Road. The trial, scheduled to last 14 days, involves 16 stops along the route.

During this period, officials from the Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO) will conduct oscillation and Emergency Braking Distance (EBD) trials. The trial results will be compiled into a report and submitted to the Central Metro Organisation for further evaluation and approval by the Railway Board.

BMRCL's Managing Director and other board members were seen interacting with the RDSO team during the trials, highlighting the significance of this phase in the Metro's expansion plans.

Meanwhile, Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) has begun producing prototype driverless trains for the Blue and Pink Lines, which are part of the metro's Phase 2A and 2B expansions. Phase 2A covers the 21.26 km Pink Line from Kalena Agrahara to Nagawara, while Phase 2B spans 38 km from KR Pura to Kempegowda International Airport. These lines will be supported by 37 train sets, featuring a total of 222 coaches.

The Pink Line, which includes Bengaluru’s longest underground section, is projected to be completed by the end of 2025, while the Blue Line is expected to be operational by June 2026. Salar News
