Bengaluru, 29 May
Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport received a bomb threat on
Wednesday. A note on the men's washroom of Terminal 1 saying the airport would
be rocked by a series of bomb blasts lead to panic among the flyers.
After thorough checks, the security officials declared it a hoax and operations
resumed. The note was found at 3.40am and by 7am the authorities declared it a
hoax. However the flight operations were not affected despite the incident.
This marked the second false alarm at the airport in just two weeks. On 17 May,
a passenger on an Air India Express flight falsely claimed his check-in bag
contained a bomb during security screening. He was subsequently booked for the
hoax. Last week, three-star hotels in Bengaluru received a bomb threat, and
later, police declared it a hoax call.
According to an official, a traveler alerted the airport staff about the note.
The staff then notified security agencies. Central Industrial Security Force
(CISF) had to slow down regular baggage and passenger checks as many officers
were reassigned to address the potential bomb threat.
This false alarm follows a series of recent bomb threats in Bengaluru,
including threats to several schools earlier this month. Salar News
