BENGALURU, 9 MAY
Six 10-days-old puppies were found
brutally killed on Tuesday at an under-construction site of a gated community
(residents have requested anonymity) on Kanakapura Main Road. This incident has
sparked outrage among animal rights activists and residents of the community.
An Animal Welfare Officer, Anirudh,
was called in for inspection on Thursday morning. Speaking to Salar News, a
resident Vijay Barade said, “Around 2 am, I heard a heart-breaking sound coming
from vacant villa 123 on Monday. It was the frantic barking of dogs, their
mothers and their newborn puppies. The sound filled me with worry. Then, a
chilling shout from some which really shocked me.”
“The following morning, six tiny
puppies, barely beginning their lives, lay lifeless. It appears someone had
smashed their heads with a stone. I could see the big stone lying near one
puppy. Only one puppy had miraculously survived this attack.” said Barade.
The mother dog, clearly traumatised
by the ordeal, wouldn’t allow anyone near her even after multiple attempts to
feed her and calm her down. An animal welfare officer Anirudh, was called to
the scene on Thursday to investigate. “We are currently looking into this
matter,” Anirudh said.
“We will be speaking with residents
and security personnel to gather more information. Our goal is to identify
those responsible for this cruelty and bring them to justice. We need as much
support from the locals as we can to take this matter forward.”
Despite attempts by residents and
the animal welfare officer to file an FIR at Kaggalipura police station, no FIR
was registered at the time of publishing it. —Salar News
