11 rescued after fire breaks out at commercial building

BENGALURU, 5 APRIL

 

Around 11 people were rescued after a fire broke out at the ground floor of a four-storey commercial building at RT Nagar here on Friday afternoon, officials said.

 

The fire at the building of Miracle Drinks Ayurvedic Clinic is believed to have originated from a short circuit, spread quickly, causing panic among those who were inside. The fire originated from the office of IDS software company located on the ground floor, according to Fire Department. The fire quickly spread to the basement, engulfing Ayurvedic medicines and six motorbikes stored there.

 

“The fire started around 12:45pm and as soon as the matter came to light, RT Nagar police reached the spot and started the rescue work.” Four fire brigades reached the spot with more than 20 fire personnels, the fire personnel of RT Nagar told Salar News.

 

Seven people were initially trapped on the upper floors and were brought to safety using ladders. “People were evacuated to an adjacent building by ladder,” the fire department official said.

 

There were no casualties in the fire. Eight people, including one in a more serious condition, were hospitalised after inhaling smoke. An investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the fire.
