A rowdy-sheeter was hacked to death in a Kammanahalli hotel on Wednesday after which police arrested 12 individuals including two history-sheeters.

The victim Dinesh Barbara was killed by a gang as revenge for the past murders. Among the arrested were three people who had recently been released on bail.

Dinesh, 34, a resident of Kothanur, had over 16 warrants pending against him.

On Wednesday afternoon, Dinesh along with a group of friends entered an OYO hotel to book rooms. When the receptionist demanded cash, his friends went out to withdraw cash from the ATM. Dinesh was sitting on the sofa in the lounge. Suddenly, the gang entered the hotel and killed him.

He died on the spot. The police visited the spot and launched formed four special teams to arrest the 12 men. They arrested within 24 hours.

Reportedly, Dinesh planned another rowdy-sheeter Dileep’s murder. Dinesh and his men visited a hotel to plan the murder. However, some members within Dinesh's gang were in contact with Dileep and informed him about it. In return, Dileep orchestrated Dinesh’s murder.

Dinesh was involved in the killing of another rowdy-sheeter named Palani in KG Halli police station limits. He was also one of the accused in 2014 murder case of Vijay Kumar, also known as Kavala, a notorious underworld gangster in the city. Vijay brutally hacked to death by Dinesh’s former associate and five accomplices near the Karnataka-Tamil Nadu border and Santoshi Bai and her daughter-in-law Latha Dinesh,were discovered murdered with their throats slit at their residence in 2016. Additionally, in 2017, he was accused of attempting to kidnap the personal assistant of the then Opposition leader in the Legislative Council. He was wanted by the police in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu as well.
