BMTC bus runs over student in B'luru

A 21- year-old student, was mowed down by a Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus on Friday.

 

The deceased Kusumitha, a second-year engineering student at JSS Academy of Technical Education was on her way to college when the accident took place.

 

According to police reports, the incident ocurred around 8.30 am near Harishchandra Ghat in Rajajinagar area, when she was on her way on scooter. She was rushed to the hospital by bystanders. Sarah Fatima, Deputy Commissioner of Police Traffic-East, alleged that the bus had dragged the victim for a short distance before she succumbed to her injuries. The driver fled the scene following the accident.

 

A case has been registered at the Malleswaram police station. Police are inspecting the CCTV visuals from a nearby shop. Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy has directed the officials to take disciplinary action against the BMTC driver. —PTI
