Apple is about to launch a new version of its proprietary mobile operating system iOS. According to Mac Rumors, a portal which reports on all things Apple, the European Commission has announced a list of changes that Apple will have to implement in future iOS updates, including iOS 19. Some of the new inclusions are reportedly features such as live translation with AirPods and data encryption for messages.

The 'new' addition might sound a little underwhelming to the users. The data encryption is as new as any messaging platform, hence, more or less a routine update. Google gained an edge over live translation quite some time ago where it used AI to translate real-time speech and text between languages. Finally, the redesigned interface of iOS 19 mimics the software platform for Apple's Vision Pro headset. Vision Pro was launched in 2024.

Siri on the other hand will be getting a major update. The company previewed a more personalised version of Siri at Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) last year, which is expected to arrive with iOS 19.The WWDC is a conference held annually by Apple Inc. As a result, Siri will understand users' personal context, have on-screen awareness and offer per-app controls.

The first iOS 19 beta is expected to arrive in June after the WWDC 2025 keynote. The update will likely be released to the general public in September. iOS 19 will be compatible with all iPhones that can run iOS 18, including the iPhone 16 series, iPhone 15 series, iPhone 14 series, and older models like the iPhone 13, iPhone 12, and iPhone 11.
